What's New at the Language Training Institute?

LTI at the SFU Burnaby Campus Information Evening

Thank you to all the prospective students who came to the LTI booth during the SFU Burnaby Campus Information Evening on May 25th and met with LTI instructors, Jia Fei, Claudia Hein, and Noriko Omae! It was a pleasure to meet you all!

B.C. Mandarin Speech Contest

Congratulations to our SFU students in the B.C. Chinese Bridge Mandarin Speech Contest held in Vancouver on March 22nd.  SFU student Sean Bergunder won the top prize in the Non-Heritage Intermediate-Advanced Level.  Monica Luna-Estrada won the 2nd prize in the Non-Heritage Beginner Level.

The event was co-sponsored by the BCIT Confucius Institute and the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver.  About sixty contestants from nine B.C. post-secondary institutions competed on the assigned topic of "Me and China".

26th Annual BC Japanese Speech Contest

At the 26th Annual BC Japanese Speech Contest, hosted at SFU on March 1st, Summer Fang - a graduate of SFU's JAPN 300 and 301 - won the advanced level category.  The SFU event was made possible by volunteer work of students from JAPN 201, JAPN 301, and JAPN 200.
